Rules to know
- Mauritius refuses cars more than about 4 years old Used cars must be young (sources give 3 to 5 years) and right-hand drive; left-hand-drive cars only come in under a display code. Check with the Mauritius Revenue Authority.
- Mauritius bans left-hand-drive cars Only right-hand-drive cars are registered, apart from cars brought in for display. US cars are left-hand drive, so almost none can be registered there.
